Fukuoka snaps

Been absent from Japan for almost 20 years, last month I went to Fukuoka and vicinity for a few days.
Compared to the old days, the Japanese is no longer the same polite and friendly.
Especially to tourists bearing a Chinese face.
Am I being too sensitive?

While the ladies were shopping I sneaked out for some fresh air.
Strolling along the narrow streets nearby the city centre, I encountered a small eyewear shop.
Looked like it's an established brand in Fukuoka and offered bespoke service.

With limited exchange of conversation in English, I ended up ordering two pairs of glasses frame.
Instead of acetate, he still makes celluloid frames.
Expected to deliver to Hong Kong by January next year.

Again I was released while the ladies were blood fighting the last evening in boutiques,
I bumped into a small rally.

Nice pictures, as you always have :loveliness:

IMHO, Japanese is not polite and friendly as you encountered in the past due to several reasons. Besides perhaps the bad experience they have with tourists, the economic environment of the whole country since the Fukushima nuclear crisis in 2011 also affects greatly.

Btw, bespoke glasses frame is also available in Hong Kong. I am wearing one for a couple of years and it is made by a young man in Kwai Fong. My experience is very similar to ordering a bespoke suit in tailor shop: all kinds of measurement; choose style, materials and colours for the glasses frame; return for a trial fit a few weeks later before the final product comes out.You may wish to try visiting him one day to support local craftmanship.

Thanks for sharing the bespoke workshop in Hong Kong.
There is a lot of their info at Facebook. Interesting!
I'll find time to pay a visit and check out what they have for me.

Nice shots! bubu Hing.

About 40 years ago, I went to Tokyo quite often for short pleasure trips, like once in two months or so.

I visited there so frequently because it was a friendly, polite, clean and organized place.
And most importantly, there were many new designs to see across all categories of products.

It was such an inspiring country.
