I think, not just becos of the serial, the 1st owner of this M3 is extraordinary - Dr. Ludwig Leitz, the son of Ernst Leitz.
And the ex-owner - Surat, also a very important collector of Vintage Leica.

Surat is an important collector and have my respect! But I will not pay any extra for any item because it was owned by him previously.
So as Leitz family... to some extend all cameras own by the Leitz family before it was sold {:4_109:}
Of course may be to some people it does increase the value.. which seems to be the case now.... so Ming is right.. {:4_133:}

if saying the camera owned/used by a photographer, (e.g. Robert Capa) that is more attractive to me
still....the price is just jaw dropping.....
