Morocco Recce (#64 May26 END)

Eleven days in Morocco. 7 cities. 4000+ shots. Almost 3 days post prod in Beijing.
No shopping. No tourist sight-seeing. Only old towns to indulge street photography.
It was organized by a Leica users group in China.
You were on your own until an appointed time to re-group for lunch/dinner (Arabian food sucks!) or back to hotel.

For Morocco's exotic colours, my first time in travel to shoot more colour pictures than B&W.

To be continued.

No, on the contrary, 90% people in the old towns refused to be shot.
I was actually asked to delete pictures 3 times during the whole trip.

One had to shoot lightning fast to capture before they noticed.
Most of the group mates using Leica Q had to set manual because autofocus lagged.

Oh my goodness.....

you surely captured some great people shots then

In such critical situations across Morocco,
Leica M further proved to me that RF shooting is the fastest.
In my case using 50mm, the large area outside the frameline helped a lot.
I could frame well and just wait for what I anticipated to come in frame.

Thought you would get beat up shooting females ... this is a very conservative society - my Morocco friend told me.

Haha, the young ladies were fine, willing to face camera.
Only the elder ones rejected.
Overall they were not rude but calmly turned off their heads or covered with hands.

There were many good subjects to shoot in this colourful country.
My usual favourite topic was rather secondary, though.:)

The Medina of Fez, 300kms east of Casablanca, is an UNESCO World Heritage Site.
I was told there are 20,000+ alleys within this old city that houses 1,000,000+ people.
The first impression was reminiscent of our long-gone Kowloon Wall City but scaled a few hundred times, I guess.
The time allowed to shoot there was only two half days, totalling 8 hours approx.
I would stay there for a week or two if ever I return on my own.

It's famous for leather dyeing work and numerous final products (well, cheap and low-end look, though).
It was a pity that we were not allowed to go inside the dye square for not having insured.
