Macchinetta

Wondering if any C-Hing is using Macchinetta, also known as stovetop Espresso Maker. An economical and convenient way to start off the day :loveliness:

I have used a couple of moka pots before and they do make wonderful coffee. There are many brands and designs out there, one can start collecting them like watches or lenses.
Whilst moka pots can brew strong coffee but it can't make espresso due to

A typical Moka coffee is extracted at relatively low pressures of 1 to 2 bar (100 to 200 kPa), while standards for espresso coffee specify a pressure of 9 bar (900 kPa). Therefore, Moka coffee is not considered to be a true espresso and has different flavour characteristics.

You are very right to point out that these pots cannot make an espresso by modern standard. With the low pressure during extraction, coffee bean oil, flavor and foam are simply not rich enough. Yet, as far as I understood, the coffee they made are indeed the very original espresso from historical sense. And that may also explain why people still call them espresso maker.
