Shoe Repainting.....
本帖最後由 shu_sum 於 2014-2-18 18:29 編輯I was fed up with Shintaro (a guy who claimed to be able to repaint my Leica camera but chose to disappear after receipt of my M3 and my Paypal payment in 2010).
So, I decide to do my own repainting. However, I don't have any old cheap M3 now and don't have any skill to dissemble or re-assemble cameras.......so I could only repaint my pair of old shoes {:4_96:}
disappeared for 3 years!!!!:@ I wonder it any 師兄 will go personally to give master a visit in Japan. may I know why this Shintaro be trusted in the first place?Any news if this guy is still exist on earth? grandetech 發表於 2013-9-16 21:53

He repainted a couple of cameras and lenses before August 2010, and the average turnaround time is within a year. But since around August 2010, he became non-responsive. 本帖最後由 shu_sum 於 2013-9-16 22:46 編輯
入返正題.....
This pair of leather shoes was bought from Shelly’s in London around 8 years ago. The original colour is middle brown. It was not an expensive pair (otherwise I won't use it as guinea pig - expected a total loss!!).
1. I striped off all the original polish and wax by Saphir Renomat and acetone. To my surprise, the colour became light brown....

2. After waiting for a day, I repainted the shoes with Saphir leather dye with cotton ball and paint brush. Since I don’t have any shoes in Burgundy, I decided to try this colour. 3 layers of dye were applied.

3. A day later, I used acetone to brush off some paint with a paint brush, trying to create some uneven colour or patina.Since this is the first time, I only tried a little bit acetone. Don't wanna ruin the shoe in case I fail....

4. Applied stop-colour to prevent colour loss.Having waited for a day, I applied a thin layer of Saphir Dubbin Graisse Conditioner.

After the leather has absorbed the conditioner, applied 3 layers of Saphir MOD cream polish in Burgundy. Left the shoes there for half day so that the leather can fully absorb the cream.

I didn’t use any polish cloth throughout all these steps. I believe an old 底衫 can do a better job than polish cloth.

How many man hours roughly involved in the whole process?
